Join us on the Queen Mary for a great party

I love going to a great party. And we’re throwing one on November 3 in Long Beach. We’ll take over the Verandah Grill on board the RMS Queen Mary to celebrate the huge progress we Californians made in 2014 toward better bikeways throughout California. I hope you’ll join us.

Three things to celebrate:

—  The riders of CalBike’s Surf & Turf Tour. So far the ride has raised more than $45,000 for the better bikeways campaign that will build on this year’s huge victory of the signing of the Protected Bikeways Act.

—  Long Beach’s Bikeable Communities entry into the California Bicycle Coalition’s affiliate network, growing a bigger movement for safer, healthier, and more prosperous communities for all Californians.

—  The leadership of Allan Crawford, who headed the City of Long Beach Bicycle Program and is now leading Bikeable Communities. Allan was the consummate union of advocate and bureaucrat, somehow excelling in both roles from one position inside Long Beach City Hall.

Three-time Olympian John Howard will share amazing bike racing stories that only he can tell. Charlie Gandy, CalBike’s Vice President, and Melissa Balmer,Media Director for CalBike and head of Women on Bikes California/, will introduce Crawford with their own entertaining stories.

I hope you’ll be there to party with me. Dinner in the Verandah Lounge is included. After dinner, we’ll enjoy dancing and mingling on the deck.

We won’t miss the opportunity to dance on this gorgeous dance floor in the Verandah Room of the Queen Mary.

We’ll also have a silent auction and raffle with the chance to win great prizes, including rare branded jackets and a Pedego Electric Bike!

Can I count on you to join me for this celebration? Join us here.

P.S. This event couldn’t happen without the support of Pedego and People for Bikes. Thanks for your support of better bikeways!

P.P.S. Nobody’s getting married on the Queen Mary, to my knowledge, but the Verandah Deck is certainly capable of inspiring romance.
